Senior Analyst, Business Intelligence

Purpose The Senior Analyst, Business Intelligence will be accountable for timely and accurate tracking of deposit product portfolio including Day-to-Day Banking, High Interest Savings products and GICs under Canadian Banking.

Using data analytics tools such as SAS and Power BI, the Senior Analyst will access to a wide range of sophisticated databases to uncover insights and support various business initiatives.

The incumbent will work collaboratively with business partners to drive objectives in profitable growth of product portfolio, increase of primary customer base and other bank strategies.

Key Accountabilities Accountability 1
– Reporting and Insights
• Use a variety of Business Intelligence analytical and reporting tools (eg.

SAS, SQL, Power BI) to perform complex analysis and reporting, including regular reports and ad-hoc requests as required.

• Ensure integrity of data used for reporting, reconciling data sources and developing quality checks
• Provide dynamic reporting on key performance metrics to various stakeholders in Retail, Small Business, product lines, channels, other strategic groups, and external stakeholders for compliance and benchmarking studies
• Collaborate with various stakeholders to profitably grow customer base.

Proactively provide strategic analysis that will assist the business to optimize new & existing accounts and product mix from various channels, grow primary customer and optimize opportunity to acquire non-Scotiabank customers.

• Effectively manage and prioritize multiple business initiatives, projects and ad-hoc analysis with business stakeholders and/or external partners/consultants.

Accountability 2
– Processes Improvement
• Design and create new data cubes and reports that support distributed analytics model
• Manage, update and maintain of internal data cubes for consumption of internal analytics peers
• Document existing processes and work flows, and look for opportunities to optimize and automate work stream
• Collaborate with RCCA team members and analytics peers across the bank to support each other’s analytics deep dives and provide data/report interpretation and support
• Work closely with data infrastructure groups (EDW, EDL, etc.) on data-related matters such as implementation of new data sources, platform migration, etc.

• Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.

• Continuously acquire and enhance knowledge of business/product strategies, competitive practices, market insights, risk management and other policies, technical processes and advanced analytical tools/methodologies in order to best provide business solutions to all key constituents
• Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

• Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct Education and Other Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Statistics, Marketing, Finance or Business
• 2 years analytical experience required
• Must be proficient with SAS, SQL, Excel pivot table and MS Office
• Exposure to Power BI, Tableau, Hive and/or Python
• Strong communication skills and relationship building skills with internal partners
• Strong prioritizing, planning, analytical, requirement gathering and presentation skills Preferred Qualifications:
