Here’s our story: jobs.td.com Department Overview Creative and experimental, TD Lab is a unique team within TD Bank, operating out of the Communitech Hub in Kitchener (currently working remotely), solving customer problems by developing ideas using agile and design methodologies.

This lean group of developers, designers, and analysts builds new solutions through ideation, design, prototyping, and tech partnerships, and brings new solutions to test in market.

The User Experience team plays an integral role in researching, designing, testing, and evaluating the products and experiences we create.

The Senior User Experience Designer plays a key role leading solution exploration, design, and development
– rapidly bringing new solution concepts to prototype or proof of concept and validating through user feedback.

The Senior User Experience Designer also supports and conducts user and market research activities to understand customer problems in advance of ideation.

The Designer works directly with peers and with a local development team to help actualize design work.

Crucially, the Designer will also work directly with a team of university co-op students through project work and mentorship, providing guidance, knowledge, and support to these colleagues in an accessible way.

The Designer will also engage with students in the community, supporting academic partnerships, case studies, and other relevant events.

You will also have an opportunity to explore emerging market trends, competitors, technologies, and be empowered to start/stop projects within TD Lab because of what the market tells you.

Job Description Conduct or review market research through primary and secondary sources to deeply understand customer problems and their root cause Design user flows and experiences that are simple, functional and elegant Work closely with other designers and developers, and at times with TD lines of business, to develop extraordinary early-stage products and experiences Design highly functional and intuitive user interfaces using design research techniques, including in-field observations, customer interviews, usability testing, and other forms of user need-finding Use design thinking methodologies, including building personas, storyboards, flowcharts, wireframes and prototypes Effectively communicate research findings, conceptual ideas, detailed design, and design rationale both verbally and visually Work closely with development teams to ensure that design specifications are implemented Participate and support team standups and scrums to drive solution development and ensure solution is aligned with user needs Build or present product demos enabling socialization of early stage solutions Work closely with a co-op student in a mentorship role, and conduct resume reviews and interviews to hire co-ops each term.

Represent the lab at public events including hackathons, conferences, and recruiting events.

Continuously enhance knowledge / expertise in own area and keep current with leading-edge technologies, emerging trends, and grow expertise of the business, applications, analytical tools and techniques Support a positive work environment that promotes service to the business, quality, innovation and teamwork and ensure timely communication of issues / points of interest Requirements Undergraduate degree or relevant experience/education in a design related discipline 5 years of experience, preferably in digital design, interaction and visual design Design experience for mobile and web platforms Experience conducting user research and user testing Love of collaboration Proven ability to generate assets for build phases Strong communication skills to articulate creative and aesthetic choices to team members Able to multitask, prioritize projects, and communicate progress and expected milestones Track record of maintaining high quality of designs throughout all phases of a project Passionate about finding balance between form and function Proficiency with design and prototyping tools including Figma, Sketch, Miro Experience in guiding real products, for use by real people from an early stage To learn more about the work we do, some of the projects and concepts we’ve worked on at TD Lab, and our recent ”for students, by students” theme, visit https://tdlab.io Hours 37.5 Inclusiveness At TD, we are committed to fostering an inclusive, accessible environment, where all employees and customers feel valued, respected and supported.
