This is a Part-time position in Sarnia, ON posted June 6, 2021.

Sensenbrenner Hospital is currently seeking a Midwife on a temporary Full-Time basis (May 1 to September 15) We are looking for an experienced Midwife to provide quality care to labour patients as well as provide educational sessions to our Registered staff.

The work performed would be a combination of prescheduled shifts and on-call.

To be successful as a Midwife at Sensenbrenner Hospital, you should be patient, compassionate, and able to handle difficult situations.

Ultimately, an exceptional Midwife should be able to gain patients’ trust as well as demonstrate excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Midwife Responsibilities:
• Work in collaboration with our Physicians during delivery;
• Monitoring the health of pregnant women and their unborn babies;
• Educating patients as well as their partners and family members on reproductive health, preparation for parenthood, and antenatal care;
• Teaching patients with pain management techniques to prepare them for labor as well as providing emotional support and encouragement during labor;
• Teaching sessions to colleagues, Registered Nursing staff and patients;
• Appropriate hospital documentation;
• Teaching new mothers how to feed their newborns;
• And provide follow-up care when appropriate.

Midwife Requirements:
• Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Nursing or related field.

• Completion of an accredited midwifery educational program.

• Certified by either the College of Midwives of Ontario
• Current Ontario licensure.

• Proven experience working as a Midwife.

• Basic Life Support (BSL) and Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certifications.

• The ability to work under pressure.

• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and clinical assessment skills.

• Effective communication skills.

• Patient and compassionate.

• Must have the ability to provide services in French and in English.
