Procurement – Manager, Procurement

Job Title: Procurement Manager Department: Procurement Supervisor: Director, Strategic Sourcing POSITION SUMMARY: The Procurement Manager reports to the Director, Strategic Sourcing and is responsible for the procurement of materials and supplies for the Polytainers’ organization.

The Procurement Manager is a results-driven team player who works in collaboration with the business to develop and implement sourcing strategies, procure products & services, and maintain the appropriate level of inventory to support business requirements.

They will ensure that the purchase of goods meet quality requirements and specifications at the most favorable price for the Company, while simultaneously building and maintaining strategic relationships with key suppliers.

This position is part of the Operations Leadership team.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITES: Category/Project Management Identify and execute savings opportunities working with vendors and cross-functionally to deliver cost reduction targets and optimize performance measures such as on-time delivery & lead time on purchased goods and services, without jeopardizing quality, flexibility, and supply continuity.

Assist in developing and implementing short-term and long-term procurement strategies designed to reduce costs and improve quality and service while meeting goals and objectives of the organization.

Manages and tracks savings and continuous improvement initiatives.

Monitors suppliers’ adherence to contracts.

Manages ongoing communications with suppliers.

Benchmarks the packaging industry to monitor cost and technology trends and ensure best practices are incorporated into Polytainers’ supply chain Monitors and measures vendor performance and oversees corrective action and continuous improvements.

Works cross functionally to support new sustainable materials and processes, and implementation of new program launches.

Operations Support Ensures appropriate supply of goods and materials.

Communicates effectively to resolve supply problems that may impact operations.

Identifies and implements opportunities to (i) improve buying patterns to reduce supply risk and improve pricing; (ii) better leverage buying power across all facilities; (iii) negotiate savings; and (iv) support the business to achieve the optimal total cost solution.

Responsible for the inventory accuracy of purchased material through planning, cycle counts, reconciliation, and investigation.

Fosters close relationships with associated departments (R&D, Quality, Operations, and Finance) and represents the Procurement function at key business meetings.

Procurement system data input and integrity Process Develop annual budget recommendations supporting procurement activities keeping in line with company goals and budget guidelines to outline all projected financial needs for the upcoming year Responsible for continuous improvement of procurement process and policies Leadership Champions use and adherence to purchasing policies and P2P tools company-wide Mentors and develops staff through coaching and development plans to address individual areas of improvement Responsible for communication flow between suppliers and A/P to ensure timely and accurate payments to suppliers.

Perform other duties as assigned SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Educational Requirements: BS/BA degree in business, supply chain, accounting, engineering, or related field Minimum Experience/Field: 5 years of experience in a fast paced, high volume lean manufacturing environment.

Experience in injection molded plastics and/or food packaging industry preferred, but not necessary Computer Skills: Good PC skills including working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and MRP/ERP systems Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand for long periods of time for manufacturing related activities including physical inventory and cycle counts.

Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
