The group is responsible for the definition and execution of process facility projects typically valued between $20MM and $100MM total installed cost (TIC) at NOVA’s petrochemical manufacturing facilities in Canada and the United States.Reporting to the Leader, Mid-size Capital Projects, the Project Manager is responsible for leading and managing the project throughout the project delivery cycle including front-end-loading design, detailed design, procurement, construction, commissioning and close-out.

Project objectives are established in service of safe, reliable and cost-effective facilities.Responsibilities:Develop and implement project execution plans to meet the project objectives, including scope definition, budget, schedule, execution strategies, resourcing and risk mitigationPromote and champion Responsible Care (health, safety & environment) in all aspects of the projectPlan for and secure internal and external resources required to deliver on the project objectivesManage project delivery and performance of the engineering contractors, equipment/material suppliers and construction contractors, including taking corrective action and exercising change management as warrantedDevelop and deliver regular progress reports, proposals, plans and other documentationEstablish and maintain alignment and frequent communication key stakeholders, especially the Project Champion and Steering TeamDevelop and deliver effective presentations to various audiences including project teams, sponsors and key internal stakeholdersParticipate in the Mid-Size Projects’ leadership team and assist with organizational development and business management activities as assignedQualifications:Undergraduate engineering or applied sciences degree in a relevant disciplineCurrent registration as a Professional Engineer in Alberta, Ontario or equivalent reciprocal jurisdiction15+ years of related engineering and project management experience in petrochemical manufacturing, oil and gas processing or other industries with similar process facilitiesDemonstrated ability to successfully deliver process facility projects valued between $20MM and $100MM total installed cost (TIC)Experience directly managing projects as the authorized representative for the facility owner/operatorExperience and capability to effectively negotiate and manage multimillion-dollar contractsStrong business analysis and decision-making skillsExcellent interpersonal communication, leadership, organizational and conflict resolution skillsExperience and capability to proactively and effectively manage project uncertainty through accurate risk identification and management, and design mitigation/contingency strategiesHold a valid passport and be able to travel domestically and internationallyThe following experience and qualifications are considered beneficial for success in this position:Project Management Professional (PMP) designationExperience and capability to coach and develop high-performing teams and individualsWorking knowledge of common engineering information management systems and project controls software About Us:NOVA Chemicals develops and manufactures chemicals and plastic resins that make everyday life safer, healthier and easier.
